SMLC Celebrates with Lebanese Press the Popularity of Tropicana

Beirut, May 27, 2004 – The launch of Tropicana, the world's leading juice beverage, in Lebanon received overwhelming response from consumers across the country few months after its launch at the beginning of the year, noted Mr. Walid Assaf, Chairman of Societe Moderne Libanaise pour le Commerce (SMLC), Pepsi's exclusive bottler in Lebanon.

Mr. Assaf's comment was made at a luncheon held today at the Metropolitan Palace Hotel in honor of the local press for their dedication in supporting the company's initiatives throughout the years and to introduce them to the Tropicana brand.

Commenting on SMLC's decision to produce and distribute Tropicana in Lebanon, Mr. Assaf said: "SMLC always works on providing its consumers with the opportunity to experience great tasting drinks, hence our decision to bring Tropicana to the local market.

"We strongly value our relationship with our customers, who for over five decades have given us the necessary support to maintain our strong lead in the market. In return, we have always worked ahead to ensure that our consumers are rewarded for their loyalty and support, through the launch of exciting new brands that are leaders in their segment."

As part of the agreement with the Tropicana Company, SMLC has invested millions of dollars on a new state-of-the-art production line that is dedicated for the production of Tropicana.

"Our major investment in the Tropicana line stems from our belief in delivering the best quality product to our consumers. A critical part of this effort was working very closely with the Tropicana Company to train a select team of qualified Lebanese professionals to ensure the proper implementation of the company's very stringent mission and policies."

Soon after its launch into the Lebanese market, Tropicana gained considerable market share in the juice sector, thus adding value to the industry. Tropicana is the most widely distributed juice Brand in Lebanon today, reflecting overwhelming acceptance by Lebanese consumers.

All natural Tropicana, made with no preservatives, is available in Lebanon in 1.0L and 300ml glass bottles, where Tropicana enthusiasts can have the option of choosing from four great tasting flavors: Orange, Pineapple, Mango and mixed fruits.
